1999
The Spark of an Idea
Licensed esthetician and instructor Angie Ruh knew there had to be a better way to achieve a sun-kissed tan—without the sun damage. Frustrated by orange self-tanners and streaky results, she set out to create something better. Her passion even caught the attention of the local paper.
2001
A Game-Changing Discovery
When Angie learned about a breakthrough in spray tanning, she didn’t just take notes—she booked a flight. She traveled to Hilton Head, SC, to train with the pioneer of modern spray tanning, mastering a technique that would soon revolutionize the industry.
2002
Shine Spray Tan is Born
Back in Nebraska, Shine Spray Tan became a reality. Angie introduced a custom airbrush experience designed to deliver a flawless, natural-looking tan without UV exposure. Shine wasn’t just a spray tan—it was confidence in a bottle.

SCIENCE MEETS SUNLESS
Innovation was everything. Angie teamed up with private chemists to develop Shine’s own organic, cruelty-free tanning solutions. With a subtle purple base to prevent orange tones, Shine’s formulas set a new industry standard.
2010's
growth + glow up
Shine expanded, opening multiple locations and training the next generation of spray tan artists. As demand for sunless tanning skyrocketed, Shine became a Best of Omaha winner, proving that a homegrown brand could stand shoulder to shoulder with national chains.
2020
Shine at Home Takes Off
Shine went beyond the studio, launching Shine at Home—bringing pro-grade tanning solutions straight to clients’ doors. The training program also expanded, helping more aspiring artists launch their own sunless tanning businesses.
